918's dont realy have that high of seat pressure. I believe its 110#'s

 

ok well i bought a kit from comp cams that includes Cam, lifters, & timing set, ive also purchased the 1.6 comp pro mags... tomorrow i will be ordering rocker studs, springs, locks, guide plates, and retainers. just to be more specific.. pretty much the only thing im not gonna replace is the pushrods.
hopefully my new valve train can withhold the n20.. all im wanting is 450 hp on spray i dont wanna set my goals too high so i dont get disappointed.

 

You spent that much, you mind as well go to hardened pushrods. There have been heavy debates on which year motors did and did not get hardened push rods from the factory.

Plus, running guideplates, without hardend pushrods, is just asking for trouble. Like bent pushrods, broken rockers, it relaly is just easier to replace them too. Summit brand is really nice for the price if your trying to do a budget buildup.

 

My '95 motor had hardened push rods, my '96 didn't. Its pretty easy to find out if you do or not, so why buy new ones if ya already have 'em. I just rubbed a piece of metal down the sides of one from each set. The '96 scratched, the '95 didn't.

 

because even if they are hardened, the ends of them are worn in. It will only wear the rocker arm faster anyways. And stock hardend push rods arent nearly as nice as some of the aftermarket designs.

 

My 1995 LT1 push rods were NOT hardened. The file cut into the sides.
Bought some new hardened rods for my RR install.
Just watch out.
