Quick question on where to start with DTC33, MAP high
Quick question on where to start with DTC33, MAP high
The car has a unsteady idle and has stalled once, reponse is still good, power seems fine, Datamaster shows a DTC 33 MAP pressure high, it spends a significant amount of time in the 80s and 90s kph. Also is a DTC 66 A/C pressure sensor open/short. My A/C is deleted however.
The service manual tells me to check the unsteady idle before looking at the high MAP, the that chart tells me to check the MAP any suggestions on where I should go from here?
car is A/C delete !EGR, M6, 94 LT1 firebird

Re: Quick question on where to start with DTC33, MAP high
When you removed the A/C system, and unplugged the pressure sensor from the line on the passenger side fender liner, it became an "open" circuit = DTC 66
For the MAP sensor problem, check the harness connector. I have found that they seem to get brittle and crack, causing intermittent problems, and codes. My own was replaced at least 4 years ago.
The PCM basically does a sanity check on the sensor voltage and sets the DTC if the MAP sensor volts are greater than 4.26, when RPM is greater than 1,000 and TPP is less than 3%.

Re: Quick question on where to start with DTC33, MAP high
moved the wires and the problem went away, does the MAP sensor have a harness seperate from the main engine wiring harness or am I going to have to go back a couple feet in the harness and cut and replace the wires?
Re: Quick question on where to start with DTC33, MAP high
It's possible to remove the weather tight connector from the harness, and replace it with a new one. You don't have to cut the wires off at all.

sorry about digging this up. but was wondering if someone did have the part number for the connector or know where i can pick one up at? my connector is falling to pieces.
