Quick question before I go to Autozone..

I got a 94z28 and Im about to go buy all these parts because I can't figure it ot nor can anyone else.. Has a new opti and it gets no spark, no power from the ignition module. I've concluded my problem with my car has to be the ignition module, knock sensor, camshaft sensor, or the computer itself. I got no codes coming up and no check engine light on. Thanks any information I could use would help!~

Re: Quick question before I go to Autozone..

u sure all the harness wires aer hooked up to the opti. I remember replacing my opti one time and forgot to plug in the wire that goes from the coil to the opti, which gave me no sprak or nothing.

If thats right, then my thought would be maybe a bad pcm.

but always remember to replaced the cheap stuff 1st and if you know someone with a pcm thats the same years as yours. Ask if you can hook theirs up with urs and see if it changes n e thing!

the knock sensor wont cause you not to have power, also 94s dont have a crank position sensor.

some places can check your ignition modual...

i would check to see if your getting spark at the coil, if not work back from there, coil wire, coil, ignition modual...

Re: Quick question before I go to Autozone..

Alright I got the coil and didnt help any. I do not get power from the coil wire (looks new, i used a circuit tester to the coil pack (where the coil wire plugs in) and i got no power from there either).. I also noticed I dont get power from the ignition module .. does that go straight to the computer? Im starting to think the computer is fried.. What do you guys think.. it has to be the pcm or the opti.. i think maybe the pcm because I recently replaced the opti, probably has 2 rides and 3 months of setting in a barn.

The "camshaft sensor" in an LT1 is the low res pulse from the Opti.

No, it would throw a code 16 then, and even then it might not be that.

Shoebox has several troubleshooting aids on his site:

You said you concluded it was a possible problem with the "camshaft sensor". I was simply pointing out that there is no separate camshaft sensor on an LT1..... the camshaft position is read off the low resolution pulse pattern, which is genenated by the optical sensor in the Optispark distributor. You sais you had a brand new Opti, so it seemed you didn't understand where the cam position sensor was located on an LT1.

Simply trying to help you understand the system, not saying that is the problem. As was pointed out above, the only codes you can get out of the Opti are for loss of high resolution and low resolution pule signals. And the engine will not start if you have no low res signal... the PCM shuts the fuel system down when it can't find the low res pulse.
