Question Quick question about overheating fuel pump

When priming the fuel pump is it ok to let it run for awhile. I know that the fuel is what cools it, but with the return line, fuel will cycle through like normal without overheating it, correct?

As long as you have enough fuel in the tank, I don't see how it would be any different than driving your car.

This is assuming the pump is immersed in fuel.
I would not run the pump without it being submerged in gasoline, the fuel surrounding it is what helps keep it from overheating and dying a premature death.
