Quick question?

I just put ram air on my trans am and there is a little 3/4'' hose that hooks up to the box (it used to hook up the the air inlet tube after the filter in the stock setup) and i cant get it to stay on. I tightened the $h!t out of it and it came off so i was wondering what it was and what it did and if i can just block it off and leave it.

Thanks

You're probably talking about the AIR (also known as smog) pump tube. Unless you want to remove the air pump completely, I'd try finding a way to tighten it better.

The air pump helps the cats heat up quicker on start-up. So the air it gets through that tube won't end up in the engine, but I still wouldn't leave it disconnected.

When you buy the SLP Ram AIr HO airbox, they include a different hose, that fits correctly on the airbox, and is the right length/shape. Probably the identical part to the stock WS6 hose. I had one on my car, but eventually removed the AIR system, and capped the airbox with a 5/8" vacuum cap. I'll look in my parts bin and see if I still have the hose, if you are interested.

Hose shows in this picture.
