Quick header install/EGR question

I'm in the middle of installing Mac headers, and I can't get the EGR pipe back on the intake. Can I just remove it and plug the holes on the passanger header and intake? I searched about EGR removal, but I'm not clear if I can just remove that pipe and nothing else. Also, it's a M22 drain plug that will fit in the Mac header, correct? Thanks...this has been a PITA so far!

What year is your car? 93-95 (OBD-I) will not miss the EGR system.... generally will not set code/SES light (the diagnostic is there, it just isn't very sensitive). 96/97 you will likely get code and SES light. Needs to be programmed out of the PCM.

Not sure about the MAC's specifically... again the year of your car determines what was on the stock manifolds for the AIR connections... M22 on the single cat cars, and M18 on the dual cat cars.

Might want to add a "signature" with basic info like year, tranny, any significvant mods.

Sorry....it's a 1995 single cat Z28. So I can just remove the pipe connecting the passenger header to the manifold and nothing else? Thanks again.

All you need to do to defeat the system is put a blocking plate over the hole in the intake manifold where the corrugated tube from the exhaust manifold attaches. Then block the hole on your headers, if they have an EGR connection. Another option is to leave the corrugated tube hooked up at both ends, and simply sandwich a thin piece of metal between the tube and the intake manifold.

There is no guarantee it won't set a code. The diagnostic is there.... it just doesn't seem to set the code very often in OBD-I.
