I might be kinda conerned with those rockers. They are the aluminum GMPP ones right? I dunno if i would trust those with a cam making as much lift as 847 and something you have to crank up to 6700rpm to find power. Just me though, maybe someone else will chime in with personal experience or a recommendation.

Re: quick gm847 question

I did a 383 car locally with those rockers and stock pushrods (imp SS). Been together for a few years without issues.

The GMPP rockers are made by Crane...And are identical to Crane's GOLD racing rockers.

How many miles are on the lifters? I'd be cautious if you have high miles on them.

Re: quick gm847 question

the lifters and pushrods are stock with 90K on them. the rockers are the gmpp ones that come with the hotcam kit. im really not too worried about the lifters and pushrods, mainly the rockers. so you guys think i should be ok with them?? one more real quick question, where is the cheapest place to get the 847? i work at a chevy dealer and i can get it for $247, is that a deal?

Re: quick gm847 question

The instructions that came with my GMPP 1.6 rockers say not to use them if valve lift exceeds more than .575, or severe valve train damage will occur.

If you work at a dealer, you should be able to see that the prices are currently
GM LIST: $305.23
WHOLESALE: $213.66 .

Re: quick gm847 question

These rockers are made by crane to GM spec. GM required more material to be added at the slot area for strength, but this has reduced the max lift for the GM rockers to 0.575", wouldn't work with the GM847 lift of 0.595".

Shrug. Like I said before, they are on a car I put together, been running for several years, without issues. .575/.595 lift

I guess that gm was being very conservative with that 0.575" in the instructions for their rockers.

Re: quick gm847 question

At least get new lifters, preferably stock replacements from Comp or Crane. I wouldn't reuse those originals with that big of cam because the springs you'll need with that cam will kill those lifters pretty fast.

Re: quick gm847 question

I'm also on stock lifters with about 85K on them with no problems. Then again, maybe I'd make another 5 or so HP with new ones. Not sure.
