Quick Fuel gage/ Pump question - tie wraps?

The fuel gage sender I got from GM didn't have the little metal bracket to hold the "curved tube" at the top. The one that doesn't exit the tank. I feel pretty solid that the other pump hoses are holding it in place, but does anyone see a problem with a tie wrap to hold it?

Will a common plastic tie wrap be a problem in a fuel tank?

Thanks Sean

What about one of those little clamp things that tighten as you turn a screw. I can find a pic if it would help. You can get them A-zone for about 50 cents.

I wouldn't trust it. I don't know the characteristic properties and how nylon reacts in a gasoline medium, but I would consider using something metal. Tie wraps are good for holding wires, not for restraining fuel tank components. It might work, but if it doesn't, is it worth dropping the tank again (or going through the hatch)?

I would find a clamp of some sort, or another sure-fire way to prevent it from falling off.
