Questioning a couple of possible mods...Do it or Don't Do it???
Hey guys I'm trying to figure out what kind of gains I might see from the following mods, and what precautions I may need to take if I do do them. Here is a list of the mods I'm considering, let me know how much they may help me and what other things I need to look at if I go ahead with them:
1.) CSI Electric Water Pump
2.) March Underdrive Pulley Set with Underdrive crank/overdrive Alternator Pulleys
3.) ProForm 1.6 Roller Rocker Arms
Thanks,
Ryan

I wouldnt mess with the waterpump but the electric unit is a proven 10 hp
Only go with Crane or my preference Comp RR's... proabably 10-15 hp
I think the pulleys might be worth 5-10 hp.

I'm not a fan of underdrive pulleys or of the Proform rockers, but you should consider changing the valve springs when adding any 1.6 rockers. I also prefer the stock, mechanical w/p on a street driven car. JMHOs.

1.6 RR's and new valve springs to prevent coil bind will gain you hp (10 - 15) at high rpms. I agree with Shoebox to pass on the electric waterpump and underdrive pulley system.
Other performance options to consider are:
gear ratio change
stall convertor (if it's an A4)
sticky tires if your're into drag racing

I am also in agreement with the last two. I wanted an electrical waterpump for sometime, and its an attractive option, but puts you at very high risk if it decides to quit suddenly and you cause fatal damage to your engine.
Pulley's it seems no one ever gets much gain from them.
If you plan to run 11's like in your other thread you want to get the best from the start, Comp Cam Pro Mags. But they do require some valve cover massaging.
Don't forget Ceramic Coated Longtube Headers, Lingenfelter Supertube, Madwolf tune, and a high flow catback. Those four things will open alot of doors for you, not to mention win you alot of races.
