question for people with slp cai?

Has anyone been able to make it so they can just lift up the whole intake , when maf and elbow off and be able to pull the filters out with it. That way i can clean the filters without spending an hour alone on trying to remove the filters? And if not i am seriously thinking about removing the fender just to do this, spend 10 minutes to save 50..

When i installed it i left the cover from under the fender that the filters are under off, is that the way it is supposed to be, the instructions had nothing to say about putting them back on, i didnt think it would work as good with them on but just want to make sure?

thanks...

Re: question for people with slp cai?

what... i cant fit my hands in there good enough to move around... well i guess i could... its been a while...

... what about putting the throttle body elbow on and off?, do you put the maf on before or after, when i do it i have to somehow put the elbow on first so i can reach my hand trough to push out the cracks at the tb end. so then i have to attempt to put the maf in that tiny space... it took my probobly over 30 minutes just for that one peice last time......

and still i would like to be able to just lift up the slp cai

thanks

Re: question for people with slp cai?

i used too do it the way you are talking but it always ended up fighting evrything, the radiator, the filters would get all torn up and dented when pulling them thru the opening....just a pain in the ***

and i think its a 10mm, might be 8mm tho
the key is lining up the 2 clamps so that the screws are facing in a way that it is easy too get too them both in the same direction

one filter has too be up higher on the tubing then the other for them too stay on tightly, then its just a matter of getting the screws on the clamps in the right position (you'll see what i'm saying when you are under there)
i can sit indian style on the side of the car and reach up ther from underneath and do it by feel now without even looking

well i cant even sit indian style... so ill just poke my head under there and see what i can do... i really wouldnt wanna mess up the filters so i guess i wont be pulling it up from the top, maybe i should just go speed density so i dont have to worry about the maf when installing it...

thanks

Why don't you cut the bottom of the filter box and make an access door?
