Re: question on my fuel pressure

That doesn't seem too low. Less pressure is needed at idle. What was the pressure when you removed the vacuum line from the regulator?

Re: question on my fuel pressure

43 psi is right on for fuel pressure with the vacuum line off. I'd have the car checked with a tool like Diacom to check for knock when you blip the throttle. This would definitely make the engine lag. I'd also check your spark plugs and wires if you want to hunt down sources for the problem.

I would replace the wire; if it's not arcing now, it's just a matter of time. With the engine running in the dark, look for arcing around the bad section. You can sometimes here the arcing (sounds like a snap).

Re: question on my fuel pressure

My brother drove his Z-28 with 25 psi of fuel pressure for a year, and trust me his car pulled very strong. Just in last couple weeks his pressure dropped to ~20 psi and he would need to turn the key and wait for a couple seconds for fuel pressure to build up before starting. Your pcm will ajust for lower fuel pressure, so you will not feel any change in performance. Your pressure is fine, and you should start thinking about changing the pump only if it drops to ~ 25 psi
