Question on Kumho's 265/45/16 tire?
Question on Kumho's 265/45/16 tire?
I saw the tire rack advertising a Kumho Victoracer 700 in 265/45/16 for $138. It says it's DOT approved and competition tire. Would this tire fit on my stock salad shooters? Would it be better for me than some Nitto DR's in 245's. I don't do any racing at the track, but need street traction. Since I won't be heating the tires up on Street use I figured the Nitto's wouldn't do much good. So which would be better for street light take off's the Nitto's or these Victoracer 700's?
Those are "road race" tires. They have excellent dry traction, medium wet traction, and poor resistance to hydroplaning. They start with only 5/32" tread. Tread life rating is only "50" which means rapid wear. They will fit on rims 8-10" wide. They are 0.3" smaller than a stock tire. You can find all this info by clicking on the tire at Tire Rack.
How that compares to a Nitto is something you need to compare.

Those Kumhos are more of a road race/ auto x tire not a drag radial. I think you would be better off with the Nitto Dr's for street. The Nitto's still hook good on the street even if they are not heated up from a burnout, just regular street driving will warm them up a good bit. I never have any traction problems with mine on the street, at least on a dry street that is
Also I don't think 265's would fit well on a 16x8, the biggest I've heard of anyone using is a 255.

I run the 265's on my stock 8's and they fit fine. They do seem to bulge alittle more than stock though. I personally would not run them on the street do to the issues that Injuneer pointed out.
Though they are very sticky, I would think that the Nitto's would be better for your application being that they are made for off the line traction and the Kumho's are for cornering.
