Question on electric water pumps.
Re: Question on electric water pumps.
I've had my CSI on for about 3 years now. The only problem I had was my fault. I didn't see I unplugged a wire. I have them routed better now. I recommend the elec water pumps. The CSI is less expensive.

Other than that the car had never overheated or had any problems before. So yes, I think it's fair to say the problem was a direct result of the waterpump. If you don't agree then that's fine, but from what I see it looks pretty obvious.
Re: Question on electric water pumps.
The problem was not with the thermostat, the problem was that the pump was not circulating any water at all. I'm sure the thermostat was open due to how hot the motor was, and when the pump finally came on it pumped the hot coolant out and the relatively cool coolant in.
Re: Question on electric water pumps.
When I did my opti and went with Mechanical since it was so much more reliable, or supposed to be reliable. Its now a year later and I already had the mechanical leak all over the front of my engine, including opti, and garage floor, it was shot. I switched to the electric CSR(CSI) and have had no problems since. Plus I can tell the car revs and drives more effortlessly, a definate power increase. I'll post MPH gains next time I'm at the track. Its on a switch currently and I'll be getting the fail-safe kit soon, that goes has a LED and Buzzer go off when the temps get too high before damage occurs. I will probably never go back to mechanical now.
