Question on dropping the engine

I was gonna find out if it might make my cam install easier. I have access to full bays with lifts since I live on a military base. Anyone know of websites that describe how to do it??? Will it make the cam install easier? faster?

Do not.....I repeat, do not even consider pulling the motor for just a cam swap. Pick up a Haynes service manual for detailed assistance. Once you get the radiator out....it's a piece of cake.

that kinda confuses me. Alot of people told me that the engine can be dropped in 90 minutes. Than raise the rest of the car on the lift and do the cam, wires, etc. Why are you so against it?? Is it harder then people make it sound????

I think a lot of people underestimate things! Droppin' the motor is still a serious pain in the ***! I work at a shop, and watched one of our technicians put a new crate motor in a '96 Z28, and it took him at least 3 hours to get everything out via a lift. Don't do it. Remove the front bumper cover, front clip, and radiator, and it's a peice of cake.

For just a cam swap, don't do it.
If you are doing a head / cam swap. I would.
I pulled mine out from the bottom took about day. (First Timer)
Plus with taking pics of the dropping procedure and making sure I had everything disconnected properly.

Here is are some pics of the procedure so far.

Dropping Motor Out

To swap a cam out took me about two 8hr days to do it. (With motor in car)
