Question for anyone with a heater core from autozone.

I just picked one up yesterday, and the pipes coming off the heater core are bent into an X shape. I was wondering if your heater core looked just like the original with the two pipes going parallel to each other. It doesn't looke like there's any way that the one I got is going to fit through the oval cutout in the firewall.

I got one form autozone. The pipes were parallel just like the original. It seems they gave you the wrong one perhaps. Does it look like it would fit otherwise?

The X shape makes it look like the oval in the firwall would need to be almost twice as big to get it to fit in there. The part# on the box is right, but maybe this one was in the wrong box.

Yeah that seems to happen a lot with autozone. I ordered valve seals from there once and the guy kept assuring me they were the right ones... Until I told him there was ONLY 6 IN THE PACKAGE. They are very thick headed there most of the time.

Before returning it and looking silly, check to see if you have the newer design that has the pipes that swivel. I thought the same thing when I got mine from Autozone, but found the pipes will swivel to the position needed. It makes the install a bit easier and they line up better. It looks like they are held in by a press fit with o-rings.

I have had mine in a year and 22K miles with no problems.

Thanks for the replies. It was the wrong part that they gave me. The new one looks just like the original except the arms are about ½in shorter than stock.
