When I installed my valve cover breather, I removed the CCV line and plugged the holes at the valve cover and TB. I left the PCV line alone.

Should I have done something to the PCV line and valve?

My car burns about a quart of oil every 500 miles. At first I thought this was a valve guide issue (60K miles on the clock) but now I'm wondering if it's not PCV related. When I open the TB and look in the manifold there is quite a bit of oil sprayed around the inside of the intake, as if it's atomizing with the air stream.

Could the PCV valve/line be the culprit? If so what should I do?

Do not remove the PCV valve. If you do, there will be no cross-flow of air to sweep the water vapor and other harmful gasses out of the crankcase. Some will eventually drift out of the breather, but some of it will just sit there in the crankcase, condense and dilute the oil, eventually contributing to the formation of acids.

As far as the oil consumption goes, what else can I look for? I haven't done a leakdown test yet, but I imagine that rings would still be ok with 60K on the clock. The only other thing I can think of is valve guides or seals.

 

you can't plug the CCV line, there has to be a sorce of fresh air being drawn into the crankcase

I am willing to bet a lot of your oil is being sucked from the valley, since you have drawn the crankcase into a vacuum

 

He installed a "breather"..... that is the source of fresh air.
