Question about Pacesetter LTs
Question about Pacesetter LTs
Hey guys,
I've got Pacesetter LTs & ORY to a Hooker catback...and my question is...why is it so quiet at idle compared to other header/catback combinations? I mean, I like it...dont get me wrong, it confuses the hell out of the random ricer...but the stock setup was louder... Only other mod is the K&N CAI. Thanks, Bryan

Re: Question about Pacesetter LTs
It becomes less noisy because there is less turbulence for the exhaust to exit the engine. The stock manifolds and y-pipe is much more restrictive, thus you have more noise with them.
I expirenced the same after my lt and y-pipe install and I was like wtf? I have grown to like it.

Re: Question about Pacesetter LTs
It all depends on how the company makes their mufflers that go on the catbacks. They just made it that way, no way around it. Sound is irrelavent... performance is more important.
KillWhitey - If you base it off that, then LM must be real restrictive?

Re: Question about Pacesetter LTs
When you installed the pacesetter Y pipe to the hooker catback, did you have to add a piece of pipe to make it work? or was the Y pipe long eneugh to cut the 2.5in to 3in expander off part the end of the hooker catback and make it hook up?
to clarify, the beginning of the hooker cat back has an expander go bring the stock 2.75" to the hooker 3" cat back
I assume, we need to cut that off to make it hook up to the pacesetter Y pipe, but is the Y pipe long eneugh to still hook it up, or do i need to buy a 6" length of 3" pipe to fill that gap of the expander im cutting off

Re: Question about Pacesetter LTs
It's even quieter if you add dual cats like I did. But it rips pretty good when you get on it. It's great to have no resonance or annoying noise at cruise speeds. I cut the necked down area off my SLP 2OTL cat-back and ended up getting a piece of 3" pipe to butt the 2 sides together so it's a true 3" all the way. I used the band clamps and they hold great with no flex or slippage. And it will come back apart easily if I need to take it off(if trans ever needs to come out).
Re: Question about Pacesetter LTs
I have the exact same setup and didn't notice that it got quiter at idle. I had the cat back on for a while before the headers though so maybe i got used to it.
I didn't have to add any peices to my exhaust, I actually cut about a foot off. I cut the itermediate pipe right around the middle of the transmission tunnel and then brought it to a muffler shop to have them expand it so it would slip over the y-pipe.
