I took off the t.b. today to clean the iac, there was a strong smell of gass. the inside of the intake was all wet looking, had a oily feeling but had a strong gas smell.. is that normal. I am having a high blm reading 160 on both sides at idle closed loop. but goes to normal around 128's driving down the road. cannot find any leaks anywhere.. intake/vacumn or anything. the injectors are not leaking. they are new 30lb. accels. I have a mail order tune, I hope that is the problem. I have a surging/stumbling feeling from cruising to going down the highway. h.p is really down. since I had the heads and cam put in a couple of weeks ago, the problem has been ever since. getting dynotune in a couple of weeks, hope it helps. but is the gas smell normal inside the intake

Can't really say anything about a gas smell, but slight oil coating is pretty normal. Hope someone can help you out more.

 

Have you tried adjusting your fpr? You can richen it up at an idle and it might still be able to correct at cruising speeds. That can help until you get a good tune.

The gas smell is probably normal considering gas is introduced into the intake. Not all the gas is burned when you turn it off since you have 8 cylinders and not all of them will complete a combustion cycle.

Is there a really strong smell of gas in your oil?

 

no smell of gas on the dipstick.. but the hose going from the pass. side valve cover to the t.b. there is a pretty good smell of gas from the hose... I think I will put a breather on there. and cap the t.b.

 

Check your FPR vacuum hose for gas.
