Question about a forged block for sale
Question about a forged block for sale
I am eyeing a block I found for sale. The description is kinda vague.
I have for sale a 4 bolt main lt1 block with 6k miles on rebuild. stock crank. scat 6" H beams rods. .30 over Keith black forged 4 valve re-leaf pistons. also has speed pro molly rings and Clevite bearings. Built for nos or supercharger. **note** this is just a short block no heads or cam.
If I start wheeling and dealing with this guy, where can I look for part numbers on the rods and pistons to see if its legit? Aftermarket parts would be marked somewhere where I could see them if the block was removed, right? I was kinda planning a forged build with an EFI 24x setup with a good shot of nitrous. If I could ****** this up for a decent price it would save a ton of cash. I could go straight to saving for the EFI. Let me know, in detail, what EXACTLY I should be looking for, what specs I should be asking for, ANYTHING I need to know that will help me avoid being ripped off. 4 bolt main is rare so maybe it was modified (cant remember what its called). I usually have a machine shop build the block for me, so yes, I am new. I can bolt on a set of heads and throw in a cam, but know little about blocks. And who the hell says nos?

Re: Question about a forged block for sale
Nitrous likes compression, right? Wouldnt a build for boost and nitrous be different as far as pistons go? Hmmmmmmm? What is the deal with the 4 relief pistons? Are those used for nitrous or boost?
