Question about Flywheels
Question about Flywheels
Just installed an SLP Pressure Plate, and LT1 Disk, but while installing it, I could not get the last flywheel bolt off. I tried everything, heating, PB, and I quit before I stripped the bolt. The flywheel had a lot of heat marks in it, and it definately needed resurfaced. I had to get the car out of the garage that weekend, my dad had something of his own to do, so I told myself I would just take it to a friends shop, and have him do it there, he is gonna pull it, resurface it, and put it back together for $100 bucks, and a case of beer
I am just wondering, I took the car for a spin just to see if it was back together correctly, and it seemed to be better than it was before, but in third at higher rpms, it slipped still like it did before. Not as bad, but it still slipped. I am just wondering if the flywheel not being done would cause this...FYI its going in the shop this week to be taken out and resurfaced, just checking with you guys to see if I am missing anything...thanks, Luke

It wasnt making much noise at all, then again my car has true duals, so it is pretty loud. It feels very good, and bites hard, until you get going faster, and the upper rpms it slips....or does it spin...hehe
How many miles since you did it?
Did you spray the clutch surface on the flywheel where they contact with brakleen I hope, since your hands were surely greasy and touching the flywheel. Grease doesnt come off for a long long time, and will cause it to slip under hard load. But if you only have 100 miles on the disk theres your problem, with my SPEC III it slipped under normal driving conditions for the first 600 miles. Hope any of that helps, let us know the answers to those ?s and well go from there.
