A question about exhaust..
A question about exhaust..
Hi all, Ive got a 96 M6 with borla cat back with open plate, and if I rev up my car, I get this horrific pop, like a backfire kinda, that just bugs the **** outa me
, I want something crisp that doesnt pop... I know borla can do that because Ive heard it on other's cars, whats wrong with my car causing it to pop like that? Any ideas are welcome
Thanks guys.

Re: A question about exhaust..
free-er flowing exhausts tend to do that.
you could be running a bit rich as well, causing unburnt fuel to ignite in the exhaust rather than the cylinder.
but in my experience, cutouts and straight pipes tend to backfire the most.

Re: A question about exhaust..
It is more than likely due to the fact that you do not have the restrictor plate in. Therefore you do not have the correct backpressure which causes the backfire. Mine does it and I could care less since I like it with the open plate. Plus it only does it when I am sitting at idle and throw a rev -- never while driving.
