Question about EVAP line.
Question about EVAP line.
The plastic line that goes from the EVAP cannister purge solenoid valve (mouthfull) image of it here, routes under the throttle body and goes into a wire loom containing the fuel lines. Well it broke. It was very brittle and snapped while I was under the hood jostling everything around to reseal the intake. The car seems to start and run without this line but what exactly does it do, and will it cause any damage if I run the car without it? It's a specially bent hard tube, so I assume it's a dealer item to even replace. Would it also throw a check engine soon light? Because mine is on, and it never came on before the intake job.
Re: Question about EVAP line.
Well as the name implies, during specific engine operations the relay opens and it purges the evap canister. This is the one that collects the vapors from the gas tank. And yes it will throw a code as it's part of the emission equipment. It's shown on your emissions decal by the rad.

So this valve is what let's the fumes to be fed into the intake. Any adverse affects if this is not hooked up other than I might not be the most environmentally friendly vehicle on the road?

It's about $10 from the dealer. Just replace it.

Re: Question about EVAP line.
If you leave the line off, every time the EVAP purge solenoid opens, you have a giant vacuum leak. At least plug off the vacuum connection until you replace the line.
