Question about coil

I'm chasing down a random high rpm miss etc, i was messing around checking connections and noticed my coil rocks in the mounts that it sits in.. The metal bracket is stationary, but the coil itself is able to move... I also noticed i could see some spark around it the other night, when i revved it, it would go away..

Your coil should NOT move.

When you get a new coil, you'll need to break off the rivits that hold it to the bracket. Quite simple. Take a flat head screwdriver and smack down on the protruding side of the rivet, and it will break off. You can then push it through the bracket.

A new coil will have small bolts to use.

My experience has been that MSD coils cause problems. Go back to stock.

When you take your coil off, you'll notice the bolt on the driver's most side has a bunch of wires connected to it. One of these is one of your ground straps. You can follow this wire down to the strut tower of the car. Make sure this wire is in good shape. If its not replace it with a 10 gauge wire and make sure all terminals are clean.

Always use some of that white heat transfer grease to the back of the bracket

Give us an update.
