light brown engine coolent?

checked my engine coolant today and it wasnt the normal green color, it was like a light brown color like it was dirty. What could have caused this?

I have a 94 Z28 and I just drained the coolant and it looks the same. If you look close, you'll see a light green tint near the top of the jar you drained it into. Anyway, in my case, the light brown was rust. Not bad, but I should have changed the coolant more often. I'm going back with the normal green antifreeze.

Thanks,
Glenn

I have a very similar problem in my 1995. Everytime I drain the radiator the antifreeze looks like a light brown. I have never put that antifreeze back in. I then always fill it back up with fresh green antifreeze. Then 2 weeks later without even driving the car I drained the radiator again and the antifreeze is a light brown again. I don't know what to do. My only thoughts would be to drain the radiator and the entire block by taking out both drain plugs then completely flush everything and then fill it back up with new antifreeze. Just some thoughts.
