question

if your car doesnt start how bad of advice is it to pull the fuel rail and make sure none of the injectors are leaking and all of them are fireing? i mean even if all of them go through 5 cycles they wouldent all squirt more than an ounce. its not enough to blow up your car exspecially if its all obsorbed into a rag...

im getting flamed on a local board because evidently i have a death wish.

i mean i said pull the rails off put a towel under them and crank over the car with the coil unplugged, not the coil wire the actual plug for it, and make sure all of them are squirting...

before this i said pull one plug and reconnect it to the wire...touch it to ground, have a friend crank and make sure that it was sparking...

this way he verifies that the coil and distributor are working...along with the computer
and for the fuel side he knows that the fuel pump realy fuel pump filter injector clips/wires and injectors are working...

theres nothing wrong with pulling off the rails to check for leaks and probably the only way we can check them if we dont have high dollar equip. and i dont think its probable for the car to explode after only one cycle of the injectors especially with the coil unplugged.

It sounds like you are being safe and catching all the raw fuel with towels. If you were being sloppy and careless and exposing the raw fuel or fuel soaked towels to a spark or flame, that would be one thing, but I wouldn't worry.
