Question?
Question?
Whats up guys? I am not even goin to ask the "What kind of exhaust should i buy for my car" question. My brain is still hurting after the 20 different threads I have read between here and LS1.com. All I want to know are places I can find catback systems. I mainly just browse through my jegs mag, but havnt done a google search yet. Any sites would help a lot. Thanks guys.
Also, a couple stupid questions....
What does "WOT" mean (I know everyone is laughing at me right now, but cant think of what it means)
And people refer to "free mods" in some posts. Can anyone explain or list these.
Thanks a lot guys.

Try lgmotorsports.com thunderracing.com for LT1 specific stuff
WOT = Wide Open Throttle
Free mods:
TB coolant bypass (the only one worth anything significant)
maf screen delete
wiring your fans manually
iat resistor trick (not recomended by me)
iat relocation
skip shift wiring
there are others, but like i said the TB coolant bypass is the only one worth anything.
The search feature is your friend.

www.Tbyrne.com is another one i have ordered from.... and yeah, the throttle body bypass is the only one i would recommend..... Not the descreening the maf or any of the others.... gutting the cat can be considered a free mod and will net you 5 rwhp or so........ And yes there are many catbacks to choose from but first you have to answer a couple of questions....
1) Do you want a nice clean sound or a mean loud sound??
2) Do you want the best flow, the best look, or what???
I would personally recommend the Corsa for a nice clean sound, or Borla(but borla comes with plates for loudness) , and if you are going for a flat out raspy sound then i would go with my setup, headers and a cutout.... but i am changing mine soon to a 3.5" mufflex and a highflow cat.... So its pretty much up to your preferences.............
Any more questions and we are happy to answer them and honestly....It all comes down to YOUR opinion not everybody elses(including mine
) So my best advice is to find guys in your area and actually MEET up with them and listen to their car and see if you like it.

Exactly what does the throttle body bypass do? and how easy is it to do?
I basically have heard flowmaster american thunder on a 2001 WS6 Trans am and basically liked it, but then he threw a cutout on there. I really dont like the way the cut out sounds. It does sound a lot deeper and should be better performace wise, but i dont think its the sound i would prefer.
I just got a 95 Z and it has the rectangular exhaust tips. Do not like whatsoever. I would like to have a deeper sound at idle, but i like the way it sounds at WOT. I wouldnt mind it being louder at WOT, but I woudlnt want it to bubble and burp a lot on deaccleration. I dont know if thats the right terminology, but i think it sounds sloppy when i hear a car like that.
Price range is a factor also. Want to stay around 400 or under not including install. I have been lookin at Hooker with Aero-chamber muffler and have heard its soft at idle , but nice at WOT. I was wondering if its softer at idle than my stock exhaust, or if it would be louder? I assume louder. Also checking out Magnaflow(stainless steel is nice). People treat Flowmaster like crap around here and thats why my choices have become a little more open.
I am not too worried about airflow since I do not intend to do that many modifications to it. I basically care about sound most and some looks.
Anyone have an estimate on install for a cat-back system??
Sorry for the long post guys. But I have been reading these forums and am learning a lot of stuff about these cars. Thank you for all of your responses and suggestions.

Judging by your response i would say go with the corsa. Of course it is louder at idle than stock... I HATE STOCK SOUND!!! But yes the corsa is mild at idle and sounds very clean and deep at WOT. Most catbacks bolt right up and i think corsa does too... If you want a muffler shop to do that then it wont cost much at ALL. Blowmaster...i mean Flowmaster sounds nice..........but unfortunately it doesnt flow very well at all. Go with corsa. Havent heard bad things about it and i have been around for a little while
