Putting on Tierod ends....

Just how in the heck do you get these old GM ones off to put hte new ones on....??? I'm baffled....

Before you remove them, measure and record the length from a spot on the tie rod to the center of the ball stud hole on the steering knuckle. Lock your steering wheel so the rack cannot move.

Remove or back off the nut and use a press tool made for removing the end from the knuckle or do it with the "junkyard method"- use one large hammer to "back-up" one side of the knuckle and another hammer to smack it on the opposite side on the flat portion. You can see where the flat place is a little scuffed on mine. The vibrations of the hammering should cause the tapered joint of the rod end to come free.

Don't move the steering wheel when the rod is removed. Thread your new rod on to the same length you recorded for the old one. Toe-in may be slightly impacted, so plan on having the alignment checked sometime soon.

nah, they are really easy unless you live in the north and they are all rusted up. Just do like rob said and they will come right out.
