Put in new motor...car won't start!! (starter related)
I put in a new motor today and everything is hooked up. However, the car won't start. I believe the problem is with the starter. The starter spins, but the solinoid (spelling??) won't turn over. Is it possible that the solinoid is stuck from being in my shed for about a year? Also, there are three wires down near the starter? The big power wire from the battery, a smaller red wire, and an even smaller black wire. I only remember two going into the starter. Does anyone know where the little black wire goes to? It comes out of the same group of wires as the power wire and isn't very long. I hope someone knows what I am talking about....thanks for your time

That little black wire might be a ground.. I kinda remember one being in that area.. and then you hve the thick one wire from the battery and the purplish wire to the solenoid as well..

It's probably not engaging. You could try to pull it and check it out but are probably going to get stuck with looking for a new starter.
As for the wire, you said black, and the first thing that comes to mind is ground, but don't quote me, I'm not certain about it.

here is a pic from shoeboxs' site http://shbox.com/1/g103.jpg I think you are talking about the PCM Sensor ground wire above starter right below the plug there on a stud w/nut.The nut for the plug wire bracket or something. I went out and checked my wires on the starter and there is (2)1 fat and 1 smaller orange to starter and the small black is there and attached like the pic above
my stupid very uninformative manual says"detach the electrical leads from the starter and make sure to note their positions" no insult intended
Note to self:get a new manual
You know if the starter is spinning but not engaging it very could be that it is sticky not poppin out to flywheel(flywheel installed?). If it were me I would take it out and bench test make sure it pops out.

The spinner is possibly stuck like you think. As for the black wire: I'm not sure myself where it goes. I forgot to check before taking out the starter to do my headers. I left it unpugged and the car starts the same way it used to before I took out the starter.

.....big wire goes to the battery, red goes to the small connection on the solinoid......black wire to the engine block or frame(ground).............lmao......quote*is the flywheel installed*.......................lolz gl.
p.s is it the right starter for the car......z's have a real wierd one.small body shape, off set holes and a 153 tooth ring gear...
.....a bendex is real cheap.....pull it off and have someone turn the key and see if the bendex moves forward..
