You can run 5/16 but it's a roll of the dice if you have serious spring pressure and/or plan to twist the motor. Since they're relatively local for me, I have run Manton 3/8" with good success. I'm sure that other manufacturers have comparable parts but Manton is very responsive and easy to deal with. If you're using guide plates, don't forget to specify hardened pushrods.

Comp sells a 3/8" guideplate. I'm not sure on LT's as I've always run stock style components, but check to see if you need to clearance anything with larger diameter pushrods. I know on my BBC if I wanted to run a larger PR I had to clearance on my own and had the possibility of having to run offset lifters.

I used Isky adjustable guide plates with 3/8 pushrods. Guide plates for regular small block heads do NOT work. Also, it would be a good idea to check the clearance of the pushrods in the area where they go next to the intake port. I believe that we moved some metal out of the way there. Also, I removed the portion of the headgasket where the pushrod hole was located. It's been several years but I always cut that part of the gasket away. The total combination was Comp lifters (later Isky lifters) Manton pushrods, and Comp roller rockers (1.8 intake and 1.6 exhaust) and later, I put on T & D shaft rockers. If you use long rocker ratios the clearance problems become more pronounced. We were grinding away material on the inside of the valve cover lip in order to clear the pushrods as well.

Walt,

Let me know how you resolve the challenge of putting on centerbolt valve covers with the stud girdle in place. I had a Comp Cams girdle that always seemed to be in the way. I wrestled with that deal for several days.

Rev kit on solid roller with the correct springs = waste of $$$

Here is how you do it. Took a high speed dremel and clearanced it myself.

After breaking a stud off I decided that I needed one and have not broken any yet.

I think this is Summit brand
