Purpose of TB bypass?
Re: Purpose of TB bypass?
the only purpose it serves is to keep your throttle body from freezing up in the winter by keeping it warm, id personally like to keep it as cool as possible since mine never gets stored in temps low enough to cause it to freeze shut
Re: Purpose of TB bypass?
Hot coolant running through the throttle body will heat the air going into the engine. Hot air is less dense then cold air, and less air = less power. There's a dyno chart somewhere that shows about a 6rwhp gain. Not bad for a free mod.

Or we could try what I have been pondering for a couple years now and eliminate all the vents and piping going through the firewall and use the air from the ac and hook it up to the air intake.
There would have to be some substantial gains from this as it also acts as a mild type of forced induction.

That's what ford was gonna do with the new F-150 lightning that never ended up coming out. I was supposed to give around an extra 50 hp for about 15-20 seconds. Not exactly sure how it was set up to work, but they said they were gonna have a blade in there that when you stomped it rerouted the a/c on full blast to the intake.
Somebody ougth to take a ws6, and run their refridgerant lines under the air filter back and forth like a cooling coik, and see what kind of effect that has. I guess the a/c would have to be on though because the refridgerant lines aren't really cold unless it is moving through it.
