Pulling my OBD2 tune

Ion from Mad Tuner did a tune for me when I put on my ported heads, custom cam and 30# injectors. The tune was great. Even after swapping in the 306 cam, it still holds up very well.

I have recently got my hands on an obd1, aldl cable and the tunercat software with the EE definition file. My goal is to tune the car myself for the new heads and cam that will be going in next weekend.

The issue is, I would like to pull the bin from the obd2 so that I can apply the changes he made to the obd1 and start with that as my baseline tune, as opposed to starting from scratch. As it is now, I have no way to know what he changed to make the car run so well.

If anybody knows how I can pull this bin just to view the tables, or can pull it for me if I send it to them, it would be much appreciated.

Just to be clear - you currently have an OBD-2 (96/97) PCM, and are switching to an OBD-1 (94/95) PCM?

Yes. It's hard to remember the exact details as to why I didn't switch to the OBD1 back in 2006, but I think it had something to do with the fact that the tune for the OBD2 was only slightly more expensive than the OBD1 and the cost of an OBD1 at the time was around $100 or so, so I opted to pay the little extra and keep the OBD2 computer.

Does anybody know if Ion is still around tuning PCMs?

Re: Pulling my OBD2 tune

I can’t find his website. Several years ago I think he posted on the site he was no longer tuning LT1’s because they are so old and poorly maintained, and when they don’t run right, he gets blamed for the quality of his tunes.

Current “go to” seems to be Moe Bailey.... MoeHorsepower Tuning..... moehorsepower@peoplepc.com

I sent a very demanding 97 SS owner there, and he couldn’t believe the improvement in the way his car ran. Moe also does tuning for a lot of the guys that run in the annual LTx Shootout

Re: Pulling my OBD2 tune

Moe is going to send me a bin file this week.

Thanks for the referral Fred. Never heard of him but a google search yielded a 100% approval rating. Thank you!
