pulling motor... wiring question???
pulling motor... wiring question???
would it be easir to pull the entire wiring harness with the motor or disconnect and label all the wires before pulling?
i think it would be easier to pull the harness once the motor is out but ive never done it, never had the motor out of the car, so any advice from those with experience would be greatly appreciated.
thank you very much
oh yeah almost forgot... im pulling the motor and going to a 383.

If you're pulling it from the bottom, all you have to do is disconnect the wiring on the interior side and it will all come out. If from the top, depends.... will you be pulling it out with the tranny or not? If with the tranny, you could probably leave it on. If not, then just disconnect it and label if you don't remember the locations.
Which way are you pulling it out from? I just did mine in Aug. and what I did was take like 30 digital pictures of the the motor at all angles and zoomed in on them also. Then I labeled them as I pulled them off. I just pulled them back. It not a problem at all. In the end I had no problem hooking them back up.
Disconnect and label. It would be worlds difficult to pull the harness also. Most of these connectors will only go on one sensor, so it's not that difficult. Just label all of them.
You can show me a engine connector from a 95 and I could tell you what it goes to by looking at it by now. I haven't labeled mine for my last 2 engine swaps

It's really not that bad if you don't lable them. Once the motor is back in just plug in your injector wires, and then every thing from there will fall into place.

labels, just tie the harness back and you'll be all set. yes all of the connectors are pretty much mistake proofed. mine are currently labelled, hopefully to be unlabelled in less than a month..woohoo!
My 95 M6 has 3 branches to the harness, one goes down the passenger side of the engine, one down the driver's side and the 3rd goes down to the tranny by the driver's side firewall. Like the others have said, GM did a great job using different style connectors making it almost impossible to improperly hook things back up. I was able to place all of the harnesses up on my windshield and out of the way when I swapped my motor. Be careful when pushing on the connector lock features, with age/heat they become brittle and much easier to break.
thanks again for all the help everyone. injectors are labeled on every car newer than mine so im labeling everything just incase.
this is a first for me so im trying to be extra careful and labeling things isnt a big enough hassle to make it not worth the while.
thanks again
