Exclamation Pulling motor.

Anyone have any good sites or books on pulling the motor. I broke the bottom end. Not sure exactly what's broke on it yet. It would be the first time I've ever pulled a motor. Thanks for the help.

well you wanna go top or bottom? Do you have a lift? The steps are maybe 5 to 6 lines long.

you will need to unbolt : motor mounts bolts (2 bolts), bolts connecting the transmission to the engine ( i guess they are 6 bolts), bolts connecting the flywheel to the converter if A4 (3 bolts) don't know about M6, maybe will you need to remove the whole accessories and bracket but not sure on this one. remove fans, radiator. and then dissconnect the whole wiring harness connected to the motor, disconnecting the exhaust manifolds or headers from the y-pipe. you might be able to pull the motor with the exhaust manifols or headers on but if you can't then take them first out before pulling the motor out. you will need to raise the motor a little then move it forward to your direction then lift it. completly removing the hood will help i guess.

sorry must ask why the top? The bottom is so much better even with no lift. If the top ( all abdullah said +) need to take alt, rad, wtr pmp, air pump, exh,and Hood that makes it easy pull.

Well like said I don't have much experince and the guys tha are helping me don't have alot of experince with LT1's but they're awsome mechanics. We would have a lift but I don't know if we have somthing to set the motor on to lower it out. We have a really nice tranny jack. I would really like some directions on pulling it from the bottom. I'm open to all options. Thanks.

p.s. The intake rockers and rods are out of the car.

From the bot is easy because you take the motor apart on a engine stand. 6 k member bolts, 8 strut bolts, brake/tranny lines, tranny cross member, steering arm, and boom it's out. Should only take 2 mechanics 2-4 hrs. This is also nice for painting the engine bay. Out the top must take intake off(some have not), and if your that far just take off heads too. That insures a nice easy pull.
