Pulling the moter.

So, I have never done this before and was wonering if any of you could give me some tips. I messed up my engine being stupid and my father has told me that from the sound it's making i have messed up the crank or bearings (sounds of metal rubbing on metal.) Anyway, would like to learn how to do this stuff on my own. Not a big fan of taking it to the shop if i could do it myself.

Re: Pulling the moter.

i did it from the top so ill tell ya about that. first i disconnected the wireharness and fuel lines from the engine and took the fans and radiator out and then i lifted the car in the air, from there I disconnected the exhaust y pipe and driveshaft and tranny crossmemeber and cooler lines cause i was also going to pull the transmission out too. while the car was in the air i took everything off the front as i can like powersteering pump, air conditioner condenser ect all the way down to the bare block. i lowered the car so i can remove the hood, nose and fenders to do away with and risk of scratching them. i called over a few guys to help me and i got into a forklift and chained it to the engine. one thing i should have done was remove the tranny first it was a major pita. it took mabe 1 hour and the engine was out. would have been less if the tranny was out befor hand but it is doable. GOOD LUCK 93ZBLACK and like shoebox said the search function is your friend. this site is a wealth of info.

Re: Pulling the moter.

I am a "rookie" by all means, but by using patience and marking everything I took it out the top by myself in an afternoon. I had a friend make me a happy hooker copy for the install and it works perfect! Wish I would have had for the take out, shoebox's site is an excellent tool too!
