Pulling the hub, just want to double check

I searched through some of the thread relating to pulling the hub and it seems like the most available option to me at the moment is using one of the head bolts and a typicall 3 claw puller. The same one I used to remove the pulley. Will this still work for me or will I have to buy a "hub specific" puller. Mine looks very similar to the one pictured on shoeboxes site... http://shbox.com/1/pull_pulley.jpg

Alright, well it looks like I"m gonna have to go out and get some stuff anyways, so I'll pick up whatever I can when I'm out.

i think advanced auto [or the other one that sounds similar] rents tools for free as long as you have a credit card to put a deposit on them

I always use a crows foot type puller. Just slide an old bolt inside the crank for it to push off of.

i used whatever tool they had at autozone, and bought a 5/8's drage 8 bolt and ground down the threads. stuck that in the crank - put the puller on it, and it pushed right off. buy the puller dont rent it, chances are someone messed up the threads.

Just got a harmonic balancer puller. It's got the crows foot design mentioned above. I guess I'll just use the bolt I already pulled out as something to push off of? Or should I use an old head bolt?

u need a bolt that can hit the crank shaft, so you are using the bolt too push off the crank since you cant reach the crank. if you dont, the puller will just push off of its self.

You have to grind the threads off the head bolt, so it slips in all the way to the bottom of the hole. You can't thread a head bolt in, because it has different threads. You don't want to thread a bolt in anyway.
