Pulling heads off (blwn h/g), what to do on limited budget for best gains?
Pulling heads off (blwn h/g), what to do on limited budget for best gains?
I basically have no money. I have a set of longtubes I am putting on, as well as a CSI electric waterpump. I will probably end up putting a new opti on since I am not sure if it got wet or not. What can I do for little to no money for the best performance increases?
Here is what I am thinking so far:
Impala headgaskets
Plain the heads for trueness
Probably go with stronger valve springs
What else can I do at this point before putting her back together, that doesnt take much money (if any).
Has anyone had any luck doing there own port work?

Re: Pulling heads off (blwn h/g), what to do on limited budget for best gains?
stronger springs and porting the heads wont do you much good with a stock cam. I'd see if you could pick up a used cam off the board. You can get them for like $125, and now would be the ideal time, while you already ahve everything torn apart.

you can have them milled at the same time of the planeing...
LT4 springs are a great replacement for stockers, like 30 bucks from GMPD...(up to .525 lift)
some 1.6 RR's
Porting the heads will do nothing but help, if you dont feel like porting them, at least clean them up while theyre out

What is the most I can mill them when using the impala headgaskets. What is a safe c/r on a bolt on lt1?
