Pulley won't go back on.

Ok, I've searched but did not find what I was looking for.
Only found on how to remove the pulley.

I'm trying to put the harmonic balancer pulley back on, but it won't move. Is there a special technique or tool that is needed to put it back on?

Did you remove only the pulley/damper, or the complete assembly, including the hub?

I used all thread and some nuts and washers. Using a piece of flat steel and pipe also helped.

Ok, I may have used the wrong name for it, but its the pulley that is right next to the alternator.

I just removed the pulley. I used the Autozone loaner tool to get it off and it came off pretty easy. Now I was trying to use a rubber mallet to get it back on, but that wasn't working too well. It would slide on a little bit, but then it just wouldn't go any further.

um, the power steering pulley?

if yes, stop beating on it, you will destroy the pump, if you havent already

go back to AZ and get the P/S pulley installer

OK, yeh, that's the PS pump as mentioned. You're prolly gonna have a nice "supercharger" whine when you get it back together. (bearings)

Yest this works well, I would add to lube the inside of the hub and use an impact.

We figured out it was the PS pulley, not the crank pulley.

What size is the all thread and where did you buy it? Is it metric or SAE?
Thanks,
Dave

7/16" - 20 threads/inch and McMaster Carr (www.mcmaster.com). DO NOT use an impact wrench. A gear wrench works well and you don't chance damaging the crank threads.
