Protocol for people with problems!
Protocol for people with problems!
Hello all! I'm new to this board for the most part, but have been around the Project trans am board for a while. It seems to me that there are an uncommonly large number of people who are posting there problems with what I would call lack of proper "etiquette" shall we say? Now I'm certainly not a moderator around here, so I can't say these are rules, but it will certainly help people to diagnose your problems more efficiently. With that said:
1.) Signatures: If you are seeking help, it is much easier than asking individual questions if you just list in your signature all the mods that your car has, and options installed. For instance, manual or automatic, if your engine has been rebuilt, cammed, exhuasted, intaked, gear, stroked, blown, nitroused, etc etc.
2.)Anything that you have recently done, ie right before the problem started, is always a good starting point. If you recently did a plug/wire install, and are now having idle issues, this would be a good thing to bring up.
3.)Tune ups: If you have not been performing the regular maintenance on your car, or do not know the condition of certain parts of your car, perhaps you should start there. Coils, plugs, wires, filters, fluids, etc need to be changed at their proper intervals. If you are over time on a system that could be causing your symptons.. this is again a good place to start.
4.)Symptoms: Give sounds, smells, feelings. Expound as much as you can. What rpms does it happen at? Closed loop or open loop or both? Warm or hot? All the time or intermittent? High load or low load? Be sure and give your car a thorough look over and tell us anything unusual you see. Also include anything you have tried.
Once again, I'm not making rules as I have no authority, but these guidelines help us help you, and vice versa. I don't know how well this will get around, as I can't make it a sticky, but perhaps one of the mods would like to..

Re: Protocol for people with problems!
I recognize your name from PT/A. There are so many people coming to this board, I had to give up trying to pry info out of them when they don't provide it. There are not enough hours in the day to make that many posts. I guess if they don't get any help, they might get the hint.
