EVAP Purge Solenoid vent hose

On a 97 LT1 is the vent hose that comes out of the EVAP Purge Solenoid supposed to be connected to something or just remain open. I was told that it just remains open with no connection. The shop where I took my car to be tuned took the hose and connected it with a t-fitting to the hose that goes from the intake to my Aeromotive FPR. I don't know exactly why they did it because we didn't notice it until recently. Would this be hurting anything? Should I put it back to being unconnected again?

Thanks for the help.

A vent is a vent. It should not be connected.

Thanks Shoebox. I appreciate the reply. I thought that it was supposed to stay open (hence the vent part ). Any idea why the shop would do what they did? I'm confused why they would have connected it like that.

Apparently, a lack of knowledge on their part.
