With a 400# open valve spring pressure, what would be likely to happen?

I had a set of springs installed on my heads at 1.825". Valves were +.050, stock locators, and regular retainers. A couple of the valves only needed .015 shims to acheive that installed heigth. Which would leave a maximum 1.840", and with a +.050 retainer that would be a 1.890" maximum installed height. So, my heads need an additional .060 to get 1.95".

Basically, the springs that I have chosen are not ideal for my application. If I were to use them I will probably kill my lifters or break something else I guess. I don't see how Lingenfelter used these springs with so much open pressure in their lt1 engine builds.

If Lingenfelter was using these springs on their 219/LT1's, they will work. Maybe give them a call and see what is needed for the install.

Yes they will work but it's important to achieve the proper install height.

Providing that I can achieve proper install height of 1.9, what can I do about the excessive open spring pressure? Would I have to run solid lifters? What lifters did you run?

I had those springs on my LT4 heads assembled by LPE w/ the 211 cam. I can't tell you what the install height was. Never checked it at that point and I've moved on since then. I was using stock lifters at the time w/ no issues.
