problems staying running after heads/cam/rockers/etc
I just installed every mod in sig and I finally worked out the electrical gremlins and got her fired up and running, but the car will stall if left at idle unless I keep it revved up to about 2k rpms. The car has never been started with the OBD I conversion, 30# injectors, new 233/239 cam, Lloyds heads, walbro 255lph fuel pump, 1.6 promags, etc. I adjusted my valves according to shoebox's first rule for adjusting valves, but I'm afraid to try to adjust them while the car is running cause it will just stall again and again. Any advice? I think one or so valves is "stuck" open too long and too much fuel is getting into it choking the motor. Is this a ridiculous approach? I have comp R lifters and I may have put too much preload on them (I did 1/2-3/4 turn past zero lash). The car still runs like a raped ape, I spun it to 5k rpms with no probs. Sorry for the long post. Please help..
