Problems at start up

The car runs fine after i start it up and get it running. It acts like a carbed car with choke issues on start up after it has been sitting for 30 min or so.

I just replaced the fuel pump because the stock one went out. I have a new Iac, Tps, Map, Starter Opti, Plugs and wires. When it does start it idels around 1500 till it settles down to the normal range

Any ideas on what to change next would be great.

Chris

Re: Problems at start up

I am not sure I see the problem. Is it the fact that it idles a little high at first? If so, for how long? It is normal for it to idle high at first.

I'm with slim, exactly what do you see as a problem? the high idle that drops to normal as it warms up?

Re: Problems at start up

I was with Chris when him and another guy helping him got the fuel pump on. When the car starts, it sounds like it's cammed for a little bit until it starts idling at 1500ish, smooths out, then settles down again to around 900. Once it settles down like this, it runs normal. It doesn't blow out any black smoke from running rich, just runs rough like it has a pretty warm cam in it. It did this with the fuel pressure at 35lbs where it's at now and even when it was at 70lbs before he turned it back down with the regulator. Also, it's kind of hard starting when cold unless you turn the key on and wait a few seconds for fuel pressure to build, then it's fine. Just thought I'd clarify things.

Re: Problems at start up

the problem is that it dies when it starts because idle is low it feels like a carbed car with choke issues when you give it the gas to raise idle it doesnt want to rev until it warms up for a while then drives fine

Re: Problems at start up

Check your Maf connections. Also, try cranking it with no maf. Unplug before you start it up.

Re: Problems at start up

I am also having the same problems. Mine dies after start-up unless you give it gas for 10 seconds or so then runs great.

Re: Problems at start up

scan the sensors with a scan tool and see what your sensors are doing. I would suspect your coolant temp sensor first.
