Problems With My DD
Well , Ace, thats exactly what my car is doing. The car will just barely make it into my shop(It's a uphill climb). It has nothing at all past 3,000RPM. I didn't notice it at first, but if I let it idle for say 1-2 maybe 3 min, it'll start idling rough. Like it's not breathing like it should be. Did your brothers car do that by chance?? Assuming it is the cat, should I just cut it out? I think there is some sensors there. Do I need to be worried about that?? I think I remember reading it'll run fine but will throw a code..... I can't recall for sure.
Eitherway I'll give the manifold deal a try tonight.
Eitherway I'll give the manifold deal a try tonight. You need a way to find out if it's truly the cat. If this the first time replacing the cat....it may not be that big a deal to go ahead and replace it. Given the age of the car.....
I can't really think of a good way to test it unless you drop the y-pipe. That could be a problem because I broke 3 or 4 of my manifold bolts(rusted badly). I did soak them in liquid wrench....but didn't help much....so I just took an impact wrench to them.

I did have to take the manifolds to my Dad's Machine Shop to get the studs out of the manifolds. Had plenty of stud....but they were rusted into the manifolds. Took vice grips and a torch to get them out.....then cleaned up the threads with a tap.
Ace nailed it. I unbolted the tail pipe from the cat, then started the car. There wasn't hardly ANY flow coming out of it...... I fixed the problem, then put everything back together and drove around most of the day yesterday. But I get to put new exhaust manifold gaset's in it. The cat wasn't even flowing enough for it to not blow the exhaust gaset's. O well. At least I found the problem. Thanks for your help everyone.
