Problems with cc305 cam install

Yup, this is another, My car doesn't run right after a cam swap thread. The car idles fine and drives fine below 3000 rpm's, if you step down on it, it feels like it's gonna come apart and has absoultly no power. The wires are on right, and the rockers are adjusted correctly. It's not those two.

94 T/A
A4 stock stall, 4.10's
cc305 cam, 1.6 RR's, CSI water pump
hooker long tubes, true duals 2.5 w/ bullets
Stock injectors/fuel pump
Removed EGR/AIR, it is throwing a EGR code and a EGR quad driver code
Stock tune.

There's a guy locally that runs LT1's and he said it needs bigger injectors and fuel pump. Fuel pump maybe, but injectors? I have seen people on this board run stockers to almost 400 hp.

Any idea's? My friend is going nuts.

It's probably not the fuel pump, unless yours was already going out. I ran my stock block with stock injectors and pump for 4 years with my cc305.

Did you check the dowl length on the cam? Make sure the opti was on all the way etc... Chain could be off a tooth, but I would think you'd notice that at idle and low RPM's also.

I need to check his fuel pressure now that I think about it. On the 94's with the non vented opti there's a slpine shaft that goes from the cam to the opti that drives it, in 85 when they switched to the vented opti is when they put the long dowl pin in the cam that turned the opti. I think that's right. I checked the dot's twice, we put the timing chain on and rolled the engine over by hand twice to make sure it was lined up, I did that twice.

Well, if it's not cam timing, it might be opti timing. Are you sure the opti was installed with the keyway in the right place. Other than that, maybe triple check that the plug wires are routed correctly (are you sure a miss is not being mistaken for cam lope?).

I wasn't there when he put the opti on, I was under the impression it would only go on one way. It only misses at higher RPM's, to the point it feels like the car is gonna come apart. Will the EGR codes cause any problems? He put 02 extenders on it, that won't cause a problem would it, i didn't think it would at WOT because they don't do anything anyway. I unhooked the MAF today and drove it and nothing was different.

Are the stock valve springs still in there? Maybe some coil bind if so.

Maybe everybody overlooked it or maybe I'm missing something but I noticed it said "stock tune". That could definately be a problem.

It still wouldn't die at 3000 rpm with a stock tune... it would just have less power than it's potential.

If the stock springs are still in, can they take .510 lift?? Maybe you have a mild coil bind issue, but I don't see why it would only effect it above 3k.

How does it run when you bring up the revs slowly? Have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it and driven it? I would double check the Opti.

it has the 987-16 valve springs in it. You can rev it up fine in park, but when you driving it falls on it's face when you step down on the gas.

How about when you accelerate slowly? Is it missing or bogging real bad?

Can you install the opti wrong, he's wanting to get a tune for it this week, but I don't think it's gonna fix it. I could be wrong though.
