Ok, my last 4l60e a4 tranny was a jet performance tranny with a 2800 rpm stall. everything above second gear died. Spent $3500 and got a netgearhead.com stage3 tranny(shift kit, billet servo, kolene, blah, blah) and a yank nitrous 3500 stall converter. Just got done installing it on Tuesday march 4, 2003. Car felt strong and no problems with the shifting at all. Been easy on the tranny all week, checked the fluid constantly and everything was exactly how it should be. Now its Monday March 10 and the tranny just went out again. Nothing above second gear. When it should shift to third it goes into freespool and revs up till it hit the rev limiter. Any ideas whats going on. This thing is driving me crazy. I can't believe its got the same problem and now I probably got to pull the tranny again. BTW, the new tranny came with a Hayden cooler which I installed also so I don't think it overheated. The tranny fluid looks good and smells fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just really frustrated now. I didn't even get a chance to do some really nasty burn-outs yet.

I myself to avoid the auto BS am switching to a 6spd.

I have the same problem 1-2 up shift works fine at WOT but 2-3 jumps off the rev limiter at WOT. But driving around the tranny shifts fine in any gear. Help me too, Please. Any tranny guys out there? My friends 97 SS does the same thing. I have a built SLP tranny and his is a perfomance rebuild from a shop. Sorry to butt in on your thread.
Try asking Injuneer on this board. Have you called and talked to the places where you all have bought your trannys?
Thats why Im swaping to an M6, that and the fact that I dont have enoungh power to break it.

Mine did that too before I had mine rebuilt. They said it was the bands were loose, and therefore it couldn't hold the pressure, letting it slip.
Netgearhead has a 12/12000 warranty, doesn't it?
That sucks, though, that you have to pull it out and send it back to them. That's why I spent extra to go local.

Today I'm pulling the tranny out again. Waiting for netgearhead to call me back on it. Is there any possibility of anything else causing the tranny to go out. Maybe a short in the harness to it or something. It just seems weird to me that this tranny is having the same exact problem as the last one and I wasn't hard on it yet. Sure felt good the week that it did run.
