here we go again. just replaced the opti for the second time in 4 days. the first one i replaced ran great at first. motor was really strong. then it started to get weak. felt like i lost major hp. then it threw a few codes and wouldn't start. so i replaced the opti again. once again felt strong as crap, but now, 6hours later, it feels like it did with the other opti. slugish as heck from the start. won't even spin the tires when i load the converter on the brakes, but on the highway feels strong. started missing again and cruising speed. what the F%$@ is wrong with this car?!?!?!?

btw: already replaced coil, control mod, cap, rotor, and opti.

forgot to add. sometimes it's pretty hard to start, kinda like a carbed car.

 

Sorry - I dont have a solution for you - but the *exact* same thing is happening with my optispark as well. It starts to lose power to the point it feels like about 140 hp at best. It also sounds like theres a nice turbo-like whistling sound when there's any sort of load on it, but that goes away within a couple minutes. Does yours do that? If anyone has had this happen before and has a solution - please help, cause I'm in the exact same situation and it's driving me f*ckin nuts. Thanks!!

 

Oh - btw - mine's a 93 as well .. a z28 .. wonder if there's something about the 93's? You replace yours without mods - just the stock unvented opti as well? I dunno ..

 

i'm kinda thinking my cat may be stopped up. only does it when it is hot, and done it through 3 opti's. (2 new, and the stock). i know for sure the first new opti was bad though. threw codes 16, and 36 both of which deal directly with the opti. and both of which went away with the second new opti install.
