Just realized my cruise control cable has been pressed against my headers!

It melted through the rubber of course, but the metal is still fine. I used my cruise control the other day and it worked just fine. The cruise control is the cable that goes around the steering column, then down towards the front wheel well, right? And the gas pedal just goes straight through the firewall?

I've tried to secure the cable away from the headers but can't seem to get it to stay. It must have been like this for a good month and I just now realized it, so I guess it isn't gonna hurt anything since the cable itself is metal and I don't think that metal is gonna melt.

It should be ok right?

Nope. There have been cases of burning through brake lines. Exhaust gases are over 1k*. It takes less heat than that to melt a cruise control cable.

Fix fix fix!

i found that too when i installed my as&m's not too long ago,
all we did was remove the heat shield and install it again over the cable to tie it back and everything has been fine.

Yep just move it behind the heat shield and it will be fine.
