You have to figure out why they are being set. 16 can come from the Opti optical sensor, the Opti wiring harness/connector, or the PCM not sending the required voltage to the Opti so the sensor module can supply a ground to generate the pulses. 41 can be a wiring problem between the PCM and the IC Module, a short in the module, PCM problem, faulty circuit from coil to IC Module, faulty IC Module or faulty coil.

The factory shop manual has diagnostic logic diagrams that help you step through the analysis of each system to determine where the problem is.

I see by your sig, that you are running a mallory Hyfire 685. It's a great unit! I have been running one for several years now....

But just to be sure, unplug it and plug in the bypass connector that it came with to eliminate the possibility the dtc 41 is being set by the Hyfire unit...

ok so i did the test that is sticky at the begining of this section an im getting around 3 to 4 vac an those 2 wires have 10+v at them. also the ground checks out fine. not to sure what to do next, i also figured out that with the dtc scanner when the car dies i scan the car erase the codes an the cars starts up??? i can drive it for a lil while as long as i stay lower in the rpm range, anything past 2k to 2500k an the car starts to mess up an shuts off again. not to sure what that means?
