problem hooking a hooker Y-pipe to cat-back

I have a hooker 16765 Y-Pipe for my long tubes, and got a 16827 catback today. Now im peicing it together to make sure i know whats what before i go under the car. But the Y-pipe looks like it should slide over a strait peice of pipe with no kinda flare or bulge on it. Now im looking at the catback and the front part where the cat hookup is is like a 45 degree flare out (like as if it was a cub n ball hookup like thats common on mustang systems ive worked with.

SO i have a cup on the catback, and the y-pipe is expanded a lil as if it should go over a strait cut peice of regular pipe. Is there another pipe i need to buy, saw the cup off, or ??????? Im worried i got the wrong parts now

I had the same problem.

I cut the s-pipe portion off of the intermediate pipe for the cat-back, cut it to length, and mated it directly to the y-pipe. No welding was required, and the clamps fit fine.

Basically, just shorten the intermediate pipe.

ok sounds like it makes sense. So im assuming that the ypipe comes togeter more towards the center of the car and not over to the side so i dont need the s-pipe part??

K well im alot less freaked out now thanx.

Exactly. The Hooker y-pipe joins the exhaust closer to the middle of the car. You'll see what I mean when you go to hook everything up. Good luck!
