Question Problem after cam install

I'm new to the board and thought you guys would be the best group to ask this question. I just got done putting the Hot Cam kit in my car. Car started right up but seemed to have a slight miss. I adjusted the rockers again while the car was running (1/4 turn after rocker stopped clacking). I took it out for a ride and it seemed to run well. Within a few miles my SES light came on??? So last night I hooked it up to the GM TechII and it's telling me that all 8 cylinders are all misfiring code 300. Looking at the graph #6 and #2 seem to misfire way more than the others but they are all doing it at the same time. Checked for loose hoses, lines, plug wires and didn't find any. Could the PCM be doing this, or the cam? Do I need to get it reprogramed. The Idle seems low too. The car is a 96 SS A4 with a Vig2800 stall. I also installed the LT4 Timing chain and LT4 KM.

Thanks,
Mike

missfires

I'm by no means a expert on pcms but I have the hotcam kit in mine and get the same thing but no light. I've heard more than a few guys on the board say that a after market cam can screw with the crankshaft pos sensor which is why it gets deleted out by most programmers. I'm sure someone with a little more exp with this can help you.

97 SLP Company Car, thanks for your input. Just wondering if you had your PCM reprogrammed right away. Not sure why I'm getting the SES light. Sounds like a good reason. Where are some good places to get my PCM reprogrammed.

I didnt get mine done for a while after the cam and it really didnt run that bad, pretty good actually. But just getting the fans to come on at 180 and deleting skipshift made it worth it, but the rev limiter was moved up along with leaning it out at high rpm really made the difference. I had mine done by pcm4less and had a good exp with them, but I just had Ion of madz28.com save my *** on a fuel rail problem I have to recommend him also, not to take anything away from pcm4less or his service just that Ion really went out off his way to help me out.

I would check your firing order, I could take a look at it if you would like me to.

bad opti

Does anyone think that a bad opti would cause this problem?
It worked fine when I took it apart. I thought it really wouldn't run at all if it went bad. Just wondering what the symptoms of a bad opti are.
